Hoover's
Cattle
Herd
Here at Hoover Homestead we take great pride in out cattle program. We breed black simmental and black angus crosses. Our number one goal is to feed our family. We achieve that goal by making sure our herd is healthy and happy at all times. Annual vet checks, daily treats, and constant check ins. Not because I worry about them but because I just love watching them.
The next couple of years we will be growing our herd with more show heifers and good looking cattle. With the plans to be able to pick out show calves for our children in the future.
Every year we pick out a steer or heifer to be butchered out to fill our freezer with healthy meat knowing what they consumed and that they were happy during their living days. It does make so much of a difference in the quality of meat.

2026 Calves
Poe
Bull : #0106 : 02/13/2026
Our first born of 2026! Out of Poker (black baldie simmental) X Marvel. He is a very handsome bull and will be used as a herd sire in a ranch in Texas.
Pebbles
Cow : #07 : 02/25/2026
A beautiful heifer calf out of Poker and June (angus who was sold to be used for beef when we weaned). She has a standoffish personality like her mom. She will be heading to a close friend's soon to become a dam. Would love to keep her but we can't keep two heifers back
Ponyboy
Bull : #06 : 03/05/2026
This baby boy was unfortunatly put to rest in July. He had testicule issues and was catrated by our vet. He continued to show signs of pain after another visit and ultimately we did what was best for him.
Pluto
Bull : #9862 : 05/03/2026
Another handsome bull calf. He is out of Poker and Kettle. He has his momma's glaring eyes but a better personality. He is actually going to be heading to Texas to my dad's farm and service cows there when he is older.
Primrose
Cow : #08 : 07/24/2026
A Poker and Basil baby that I am so excited for! This cutie if she continues to grow how we want with a good personality will be kept here with her older full sister Magnoila
Privet
Bull : #01 : 07/29/2026
A calf out of our neighbor's angus bull Curly Q and Magnolia (her first baby ever). This cutie will be staying with us for roughly two years but will be steered out. With it being her first calf we believe he should not be a herd sire. He will be used to feed our family giving us the chance to watch her genetics grow.
